Weimar, TX (June 12, 2010) – The Brazos Valley Bombers played the role of unwelcome guest to the expansion Texas Tomcats, beating the new team 12-6. The Bombers clicked on all cylinders on the offensive side, and used timely pitching to get a win on the road.

The Bombers got things started early again, scoring two in the first inning. Casey Dykes singled in Josh McElroy and one batter later Rodarrick Jones blasted a double down the third base line bringing in Ryan Morrow to give the Bombers an early 2-0 lead. The Tomcats added two of their own in the bottom half of the inning, but the Bombers answered right back with four in the second off a two RBI single by McElroy an RBI double by Morrow and an RBI single by Jones to give the Bombers the 6-2 lead.

The team added two more on a throwing error by the TomCats catcher in the third. Then, in the fourth inning Wes Patterson stepped to the plate with two aboard and one out. Patterson hit a fastball deep over the center field wall for a three run home run, the Bombers first of the season, making the score 11-2. The TomCats added runs in the fifth, seventh, and eighth to make the score 11-5 but McElroy lead off the ninth with a triple and was brought home on a Morrow sacrifice fly.

With the score 12-5, the TomCats came up to bat, trailing by seven and looking to make something happen. After the bases were walked loaded, Bombers’ designated hitter Cameron Dullnig came in to finish the game on the mound. He gave up an RBI single that just got under the third baseman Casey Dykes’ glove, but slammed the door shut after that, striking out the last batter of the game looking to give the Bombers the 12-6 victory.

The Bombers will be back in Weimar tomorrow night, looking for the sweep of the TomCats. The team will be back at Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark on Monday night to face the Victoria Generals on Home Improvement Night. It will be a Monday Feast with 50 cent hot dogs, popcorn and peanuts all night.
