Baseball has taken the Brazos Valley by storm and there’s no looking back. With the season in full swing at Texas A&M, the Bombers are more than pleased to announce their Aggie pitchers! Joining the team this upcoming season are Parker Ray, Jared Freeman, and Rex Hill.
Coming to the Bombers from Katy, Texas, junior pitcher Parker Ray is looking to provide the Bombers with his experience. At Katy High school, Ray was a Second Team All-District selection as a senior and earned Second Team All-District accolades his junior year upon advancing to the second round of the state playoffs. Ray played at Texarkana College pitching out of the bullpen, where as a freshman, Ray tossed 58 innings finishing with a 4.00 ERA and 40 strikeouts. The summer going into his sophomore year, Ray closed for the Cooperstown Hawkeyes of the Perfect Game College Baseball League where he recorded a 2.80 ERA with 36 K’s and was selected to the PGCBL’s Rising Star Team. Ray made his debut for Texas A&M against Stephen F. Austin on Feb. 21 pitching two-thirds of an inning while not allowing a base runner. During his 16 relief appearances in the 2012 season, Ray posted a 2-1 record with a 1.29 ERA while striking out 16 and walking 6. Ray pitched his season-high 1.2 innings against UT-Arlington allowing one hit, no walks, and tied his season-high for strikeouts with three.
Jason Freeman, sophomore from Mansfield, Texas, will be joining the Bombers this summer along-side 2 of his teammates. Freeman played for Gary Vaughn at Mansfield High School and helped lead MHS to playoff appearances in 2009-10 earning himself First Team All-District Honors his senior year. Last season for the Aggies Freeman appeared in 28 games making one start. Freeman earned a 1-1 record through 28.1 innings with a 4.13 ERA while only allowing 26 hits, 13 earned-runs, 11 walks, and 22 strikeouts. Freeman stranded 87% of inherited runners for the 2012 season and pitched his career high four strikeouts against Baylor.
