Weimer, TX (June 13, 2010) – The Brazos Valley Bombers finished the two game sweep of the Texas TomCats Sunday night, beating the expansion team 3-2. The Bombers won on the strength of Levi Saenz’s complete game and Wes Patterson’s second home run of the season.

The Bombers began the game on a strong note, scoring in the first frame for the fourth consecutive game. Isaac Nuti scored from second after the TomCats catcher threw a snap throw over the head of the first baseman into right field. The Bombers held that 1-0 lead until the home half of the fourth when the TomCats scored two on consecutive RBI singles, giving the home team the 1-2 lead.

The Bombers struggled to get anything going until Wes Patterson stepped in to lead off the eighth inning.  Patterson crushed the first pitch he saw over the left field wall for his second home run in as many games, tying the game at 2-2. Four batters later Casey Dykes brought home Nuti on an RBI single to give the Bombers back the lead 3-2.

The TomCats struggled against Bombers’ starter Levi Saenz all night. Saenz was dominant, striking out seven batters, the last one to finish the game. Saenz has now gone the distance in both of his starts this season.

The Bombers will be back in action at Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark tomorrow night to face the Victoria Generals on Home Improvement Night. It will be a Monday Feast with 50 cent hot dogs, popcorn and peanuts all night.
