Bryan/College Station, TX – June 30, 2018 – The Bombers started the second half of the 2018 TCL strong with a 4-2 win over the Texas Marshals. The Bombers trailed 2-0 early, but runs in the 6th, 7th, and 8th innings helped the home team come out on top on an Independence Day Fireworks and Rodeo Night at Travis Field. Bombers starting pitcher Jesse Heikkinen pitched well as he only allowed two early runs to score during his 6 innings of work. Heikkinen only allowed the two runs on four hits, two walks, and four strikeouts tonight. The Bombers offense started off slow but came alive late, starting in the 6th inning. Robin Adames knocked in the first run for the Bombers on a RBI single to score fellow Lamar Cardinal Cole Coker. Adames would then come in to score off a Dylan Gardner single to tie the matchup at 2. The Bombers were not done, as Texas Longhorn, DJ Petrinsky scored Danny Mitchell on a sacrifice fly to shallow right field. The Bombers would add an insurance run in the 8th inning to give the team the 4-2 lead. Brady Batten came in the 9th and shut down the Marshals, allowing 1 hit and striking out a pair to earn the save. The Bombers return to Travis Field tomorrow for Princess Night at the Ballpark against the Texas Marshals, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05.
