The Texas Tomcats defeated the Alexandria Aces 5-1 on Monday night behind a complete game by starting pitcher Jason West.  West was dominant all night on the mound for the Tomcats, only allowing one unearned run on two hits while striking out 10 batters.  It was West’s fourh win of the season for the Tomcats.  The Tomcats scored a single run in the bottom of the fourth inning when Casey Grayson reached on an error by the Aces first baseman who lost a ball in the sun as it was being thrown from the second baseman.  Grayson advanced to second on the error and was driven home on an RBI single by Troy White.  The Tomcats added another run in the bottom of the fifth inning when Wes Mercurio led off the inning with a single to right field.  The right fielder misplayed the ball and Mercurio advanced to third on the error.  After a walk to Andre Rodriguez, the Tomcats pulled off a double steal to plate Mercurio.  In the bottom of the sixth, Kevin Mihalik led off with a single before Grayson followed with a single of his own.  Troy White then drove in both runners with a two RBI triple to right field.  The Tomcats added one more run in the bottom of the eighth when Kevin Mihalik reached base on a single and was driven home on a double to left-center field by Casey Grayson.  The Tomcats moved to 20-21 on the season as the Aces fell to 14-24.  The Tomcats will host the North Texas Copperheads on Tuesday night starting at 7:05pm.  Tuesday night is Scouts Night at the park.  All scouts in uniform will get in for free.
