The Coppell Copperheads moved one game closer to claiming the Texas Collegeiate League Championship, as they defeated the Victoria Generals 5-3. The Copperheads got strong pitching performances from Terrance Jackson and Jared Stafford, who pitched four innings apiece in the victory.

Coppell scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning and never trailed all game. After Victoria tied the ballgame at two in the top of the third, Adam De La Garza led off the bottom half of the third with a solo home run over the left field fence.

After the Copperheads had extended their lead to 4-2, the Generals cut the deficit to one run in the eighth, only to see Coppell score an insurance run in the next half inning.

Jason Stover finished things off in the ninth to get the save for the Copperheads, who are looking to win their third TCL Championship and second in three years.
