Steven Spaugh belted a two-run, walk-off home run in the bottom of the 12th inning as defending Texas Collegiate League champion Coppell knocked off McKinney, 4-2, in the season opener for both teams on Tuesday at the Snake Pit in Coppell.
Coppell�s victory capped a wild first night of full-schedule action in the TCL as three of the four games required extra innings.
Euless 4, Highland Park 3 (10): At The Parks at Texas Star in Euless, Mitchell Abeita�s two-out single in the bottom of the tenth inning scored Matt Lambeth to push Euless to victory.
Abeita entered the game in the seventh inning and had a pair of hits. His game-winner gave the victory to Kyle Young, who went 1 2/3 innings in relief.
Euless took a 3-1 lead in the seventh on RBI singles by J.T. Bloodworth and Isaias Garcia. Highland Park forced extra innings when Will Henderson ripped his second double and pinch-runner Michael Glomb later scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the ninth.
Dale Hall went 3-for-5 with a double and a triple.
Euless starter Chance Corgan struck out six and allowed two hits in four innings.
Weatherford 2, Graham 1 (10): At Steer Stadium in Graham, Robbie Winn�s double in the top of the tenth scored Clay Britton as Weatherford won the rematch of last season�s Rogers Hornsby divisional series.
Kyle Gunderson earned the win with 2 2/3 inning of hitless relief. Weatherford starter Donald Furrow allowed one run on three hits in 7 1/3 innings.
Chris Walsh was 2-for-4 for Weatherford, while Dustin Martin had two hits for Graham. Weatherford improves to 2-1 with its second consecutive win.
Denton 8, Mineral Wells 6: At Pratt Field in Mineral Wells, Denton scored five runs in the top of the ninth inning, capped by Reed Lesueur�s two-run single, to win the first game in franchise history.
Mineral Wells appeared to win the game when Cory Gearrin struck out Andrew Brown with two outs in the ninth, but the ball went to the backstop, allowing Brown to reach base. One of four Mineral Wells errors allowed the go-ahead run to score and Lesueur, who had three hits, gave Denton breathing room.
Stephen Bradshaw drove in a run in the bottom of the ninth, but Mineral Wells ended the game with the tying run at the plate.
Chris Jenkins had two hits, including a homer for Denton. Kyle Hollander, the Outlaws� fifth pitcher, got the win by striking out three in 1 1/3 innings.
Todd Sebek had a pair of hits and stole four bases for Mineral Wells, which dropped to 1-2 with its second consecutive loss.
