2005 DR PEPPER TEXAS COLLEGIATE LEAGUE FUTURES GAME

SECOND FUTURES GAME: For the second straight year, the Texas Collegiate League holds its Futures Game at Ameriquest Field in Arlington. The Game features 52 of the TCL�s top prospects as selected by Major League scouts who cover the league. Each roster consists of 52 players, 12 pitchers and 14 position players. The format is a regulation nine-inning game, although extra innings may be played if needed for pitchers to participate.
THE COACHES: The Head Coach of the Gray Team is former major league pitcher Todd Van Poppel, who is a member of the ownership group of the Denton Outlaws. He will be assisted by four of the TCL Head Coaches: Sam Carel, Highland Park; Kevin Ellis, Graham; Kyle Hope, McKinney; and Derek Matlock, Denton.
The Head Coach of the White Team is former major league infielder Scott Livingstone, the General Manager of the Euless LoneStars. He will be assisted by TCL Head Coaches Jack Giese, Coppell; Shawn Hughes, Mineral Wells; Jeff Lightfoot, Weatherford; and Bob Townsend, Euless.
THE STARTING PITCHERS: Righthander Eddie Degerman of the Denton Outlaws will start for the Gray Team. Degerman is 2-0, 4.03 in his four starts for the Outlaws this summer. The righthander was 8-1, 3.28 with 117 strikeouts in 98.2 innings in his junior year at Rice University this spring. Degerman was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the 41st round of the MLB Draft this past June.
Righthander Chance Corgan of the Euless LoneStars will start for the White Team. Corgan is 2-1, 2.24 in 10 games/8 starts with the LoneStars this summer. The righthander was 4-3, 4.45 with 50 strikeouts in 58.2 innings in his freshman year at Texas A&M. This will be his last TCL appearance in 2005 as he reached his maximum number of innings pitched for the summer.
FUTURES GAME-2004: The White Team earned a 6-2 victory in the first Dr Pepper Futures Game on August 15, 2004 at Ameriquest Field. Brett Pill of Cal-State Fullerton was selected as the Game�s Outstanding Player after producing a two-run double in the second inning.

UPCOMING: The Texas Collegiate League completes regular season play this week. The top two teams in the Rogers Hornsby and Tris Speaker Division advance to the playoffs. The best of three Division Finals will be played August 1-3 followed by the best of three Championship Series, August 5-7. Coppell defeated Graham in three game for the TCL crown in 2004.
