The Victoria Generals are looking forward to a summer of baseball that starts on May 27th. Following a second place finish in the league standings last summer, the Generals were eliminated in the first round of the TCL playoffs so the team will be looking to improve upon that finish this year.
The Generals are in pursuit of chasing down the four time defending TCL champs, the Brazos Valley Bombers. Some of the key players the Generals hope to get great performances from are pitchers Lee May Gonzalez, Chance Callihan and Jordan Rodriguez, and outfielder T.J. Raguse.
Aggie right-handed pitcher Lee May Gonzalez will be returning to the General this summer for his second season with the team. Gonzalez made eight appearances for the Generals, 21.2 innings, a 3.32 ERA and racked up a 4-0 record with one save.  Gonzalez spent one season at Laredo Community College prior to transferring to Texas A&M University.
Left-handed pitcher Jordan Rodriguez, a junior for the Razorbacks, will help bolster the pitching staff this summer. Rodriguez has made 16 appearances out of the bullpen for the Arkansas Razorbacks while compiling a 5.68 ERA with one save in 12.2 innings of work. He was able to hold his opponents to a .205 batting average against. Rodriguez is in his first season with the Razorbacks after transferring from Alvin Community College in 2015.
Chance Callihan is currently a redshirt freshman for the Texas Longhorns. Callihan earned District 25-4A First Team Utility Player and Second Team All-Centex Academic All-District during his senior campaign and was the District 25-4A MVP and First Team All-Centex his junior season at Drippings Springs high school.
T.J. Raguse, a redshirt freshman outfielder from Baylor, will suit up for the Generals and hopes to continue his hot season this summer. Raguse is currently hitting .300 with 18 RBIs, 19 runs and 19 walks in 90 at bats and is leading the team in on-base percentage at .427. Raguse was a standout at Georgetown High School where he was the 2013 and 2014 First-Team All-District and Team Offensive Player of the Year.
The Generals hope they can get stand-out performances from these players and many others this summer in their pursuit of a championship. The Generals will begin their season at home on May 27 at Riverside Stadium as they take on the Texas Marshals.
