Co-Player of the Week
Mark Hudson, Victoria Generals
The TCL Player of the Year didn’t coast down the stretch, hitting .538 (7-for-13) in the season’s final week to up his average to a league-best .386 – 30 points higher than the nearest player. He added three doubles in three games to up his league-high total to 15, and added a triple for a whopping .923 slugging percentage. He also scored five times and drove in four. After a stellar sophomore campaign at Alvin Community College, Hudson is headed to Sam Houston State in the fall.
Preston Springer, Coppell Copperheads
Springer helped Coppell’s run into the playoffs with a .529 average (9-for-17) in the final week of the season. With a double and his first home run of the season, Springer slugged an impressive .765 for the week. He drove in six runs in four games, and scored four more times. The Odessa College sophomore will be continuing his collegiate career at Wichita State.
Pitcher of the Week
Trevor Lundgrin, Victoria Generals
Lundgrin helped keep the Generals sharp atop the TCL standings, making a pair of stellar relief appearances, including one lengthy emergency stint. On August 8, Lundgrin came on for an injured starter in the fifth and tossed five no-hit innings, preserving a one-hitter for Victoria and picking up the win. He added two more scoreless innings during the week, holding opponents to a .048 average. Lundgrin made his way to the TCL out of Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colo., where he is a rising sophomore.
