Hunter Pence (Highland Park Blue Sox ’04), who made his MLB debut on April 27 to boost the offense, is carrying one of the hottest bats in the National League. In the series against the San Francisco Giants, Pence has constructed seven straight hits going 7-for-7 with a pair of home runs. The UT-Arlington alum is the first Astros player with seven consecutive hits since Vinny Castilla did it in 2001. He needs one more to tie the team record for consecutive hits set in 1980 by Art Howe. After a somewhat slow start, Pence has heated up hitting .500 (15-for-30) with three home runs and nine RBI in the last eight games. For the season, Pence boosted his average to .355 with four home runs and 15 RBI.Pence is the first position player (second overall player) in TCL history to start in the MLB. Seattle Mariners’ pitcher Mark Lowe, also from the Highland Park Blue Sox and UT-Arlington, was the first TCL alum to don a major league uniform in June 2006.Check out the links below that feature Pence’s streak on ESPN, Sports Illustrated, Astros.com and AOL sports.ESPN – Pence fitting in perfectlySports Illustrated – Rookie RewardsAsrtos.com – Pence extends torrid streakAOL Sports – Hunter Pence Is Living Up To the Hype
