Anyone who has been following the Texas Collegiate League this summer knows that it has been a wet and wild season.  Teams have experienced a record amount of double headers (including the two regularly scheduled double header dates) and the league had to cancel around 15 games due to inclement weather.  With the last weekend of regular season play upon us, six out of the nine teams are still within the realm of playoff contention with 17 games remaining overall.  In the Speaker division, Coppell and

Valley hold a pretty solid lead with five and three games remaining respectively. 

Duncanville is currently four games out of first place with only two games remaining, which takes them out of the playoff picture.  Colleyville, who has four games left, still has an outside shot of making it into the playoffs if they win out the rest of their games.  With one Colleyville loss, Coppell and

Valley clinch playoff berths.It gets a little more interesting in the Hornsby division.  With Mineral Wells and Weatherford out of contention, it is a three-team race for the two spots with

Wichita Falls currently leading the pack.  McKinney (five games left) makes the outlook a little tricky because they will finish the season five games less than Denton (four games left) and four less than Wichita Falls (four games left).  Every team is not only still in contention for a playoff berth, but all can still finish first.The playoffs begin on Monday August 6th with the top two teams in each of the divisions competing in a best of three series. The first place team hosts the first and third (if necessary) games with the second place team hosting the second game. After a day off on Thursday, the championship round consists of the winner of each division series competing in a best of three series. The team in the championship series with the best regular season record hosts the first and third (if necessary) games.
