Bryan/College Station, TX – June 19, 2018 – With the weather holding off for the entirety of the ball game, the Bombers did not have the same luck on the field, falling to the Texas Marshals 5-2 at Travis Field. This completed a series sweep by the Marshals, returning the favor for the Bombers double header sweep on Saturday in Fort Worth. This brings the Bombers record to 14-7, still maintaining their TCL lead over the Victoria Generals.
The Bombers fell behind early, with the first two pitches resulting in singles for the Marshals, coming in on a three run home run by the Marshals’ clean up hitter on the first pitch he saw from Bombers starter Jesse Heikinen. The Bombers would get on the scoreboard for the first time of the series in the second inning when Aggie Cam Haller drew a bases loaded walk to narrow the score to 3-1. The Marshals would add runs in the 4th and 7th inning, while the Bombers would add a run in the 5th on a RBI groundout from Ryan Johnson to complete the scoring.
The loss continues the recent struggles at home for the team, who started off with a long win streak on their first home stand. Since, they have split a series with the Texarkana Twins and been swept by the Marshals and Generals at Travis Field.
The homestand continues after two off days followed by a weekend series against the Acadiana Cane Cutters, where the Bombers will look to get back on track. Both nights during the series will have a post-game fireworks spectacular show.
