Jacob Ramos put together his third sparkling start of the season, dealing six shutout innings in Coppell�s 4-0 triumph over Weatherford on Tuesday in a battle of division leaders at Roger Williams Stadium.
Ramos struck out nine and allowed only one hit. Lucas Engle and Brian McClelland closed the game with three scoreless innings to cap the four-hit shutout.
The Copperheads (11-3) got the only run they would need in the top of the first inning as John Infante singled and later scored on Justin Baum�s sacrifice fly. Coppell added three runs in the second on a passed ball and a two-run double by Lee Harughty. Tyler Hill had Coppell�s other two hits.
Weatherford (9-6) got seven shutout innings of relief from Bobby Bell and Shawn Ferguson.
McKinney 5, Denton 4: At Denton, Alex Soward�s solo home run in the top of the ninth inning lifted McKinney to a 5-4 victory at the Ballpark on Bonnie Brae.
The Marshals took a 4-1 lead in the fifth on Matt Smith�s three-run homer. The Outlaws answered in the bottom of the frame as Kris Jenkins and Reed Lesueur delivered run-scoring hits.
Winning pitcher Bryce Cox struck out the side in the ninth, stranding the tying run on third base. Logan Parker and Jose Salazar had two hits apiece for McKinney (7-7).
Kern Watts had three hits for Denton (7-7).
Highland Park 18, Mineral Wells 7: At Highland Park, Tyler Jones went deep twice and drove in six runs to lead the Blue Sox�s 18-hit, five-homer onslaught.
Highland Park (6-9) scored eight times in the bottom of the first, sparked by Jones� two-run shot. Drew Holder followed with a three-run blast, and Jones capped the rally with a two-run single.
Jones homered in the third, Casey Bond lifted a three-run bomb in the seventh and Will Henderson added a three-run shot in the eighth.
Jay Brossman�s three-run homer in the top of the first gave Mineral Wells (6-10) a brief lead. Eric Evans settled in after Brossman�s blast to post five scoreless innings.
Euless 8, Graham 7: At Euless, John McKee drove in a pair of runs as Euless held off Graham at The Parks at Texas Star.
Euless (8-6) led 5-0 in the second inning, but had to work in the ninth as Graham (4-10) scored twice. Ro Castro had three hits for Graham.
