The Texas Collegiate League has announced its division alignment and schedule format for the 2005 season.
The summer wooden bat league, which debuted in 2004, will once again feature eight teams in a two-division alignment this summer.
The division setup is as follows:
Tris Speaker Division: Coppell Copperheads, Euless LoneStars, Highland Park Blue Sox, McKinney Marshalls
Rogers Hornsby Division: Denton Outlaws, Graham Roughnecks, Mineral Wells Steam, Weatherford Wranglers
The LoneStars are moving to the Texas Star Complex in Euless after playing their games at Colleyville Heritage High School in 2004. The Outlaws join the TCL as an expansion team and replace the Granbury Generals, who will not operate in 2005.
The Texas Collegiate League will play a 48-game regular season schedule in 2005. The season is scheduled to begin with a home and home series between Mineral Wells and Weatherford on Saturday and Sunday, June 4-5. The other six teams will begin play on Tuesday, June 7. The regular season concludes on Sunday, July 31 followed by two rounds of best ofn three playoffs.
Over 250 top college players from 75 schools participated in the TCL’s inaugural season in 2004. The Coppell Copperheads defeated the Graham Roughnecks in three games to capture the league’s first championship.
