Alexandria Aces (0-1):
 
The Aces played their season opener yesterday against the North Texas Copperheads. Dan Breazeale led the Aces at the plate going 3 for 3 with an RBI. And, pitcher Aryo Fleming had a strong showing for the Aces striking out 7 batters. However, Fleming gave up three runs in the first which was enough for the Copperheads to squeeze past the Aces, 3-1. The Aces face the Copperheads again at 7pm tonight.

Brazos Valley Bombers (0-0):
 
The Bombers played their first game Wednesday night against the Texas TomCats. Starting pitcher Levi Saenz struck out four of the first five batters he faced, working four scoreless innings. But, late in the fourth inning, immediately after the Bombers scored the game’s first run to take the 1-0 lead, the game was called for threat of lightning. A double header was scheduled for the next day. However, it was rained out. The Bombers will try to complete their first game of the season tonight at Gabe Nesbitt Field against the McKinney Marshals.

 
East Texas Pump Jacks (1-1):
 
The Pump Jacks opened their season Wednesday with a loss in Victoria. The game was unorthodox to say the least. The Jacks had to endure players out of position, a power outage, and stormy weather, eventually dropping the season opener, 7-4, despite the strong play of Jarid Scarafiotti, a catcher forced to play right field due to the very limited roster. Scarafiotti drove in three of the Pump Jacks four runs. After losing the weather-shortened opener, the Pump Jacks earned their first victory of the 2010 campaign the following night with timely hitting and solid pitching to beat the Victoria Generals, 11-5. The Jacks’ home opener is slated for tonight when they welcome the Texas Tomcats to historic Driller Park.

McKinney Marshals (1-1):
 
The Marshals played their season opener Tuesday against the North Texas Copperheads. Leading by two runs to begin the ninth, the Marshals lost the game in heart wrenching fashion when North Texas DH Chris Haney delivered a three-run walk-off home run to left field, giving the Copperheads the 7-4 win. However, the Marshals got their revenge the next day winning 7-2. 2B Ethan Stuckley led the Marshal offense with three hits in four at bats, including a double and four stolen bases. Nico Taylor added three RBI on two hits with a home run and sacrifice fly. McKinney hosts Brazos Valley at 7:05pm tonight.

North Texas Copperheads (2-1):
 
The Copperheads played their season opener Tuesday against the McKinney Marshals. Down by two to begin the ninth, the Copperheads scored two runs to tie the game at 4-4. They then proceeded to win the game in epic fashion behind Chris Haney’s three-run walk-off home run, giving them the 7-4 win. However, the next night did not go quite as planned. The Copperheads’ offense struggled against a strong performance from the Marshals’ pitchers, eventually losing 7-2. Last night it was the Copperheads’ pitchers led by Kyle Felts who stole the show in Alexandria against the Aces, allowing only one run and five hits all game, in a defensive 3-1 win. The Copperheads face the Aces again at 7pm tonight in Alexandria.

Texas TomCats (0-1):
 
The TomCats opened their season Tuesday at the Victoria Generals. They battled hard, but fell short against the Generals’ strong pitching, losing 4-0. The TomCats faced the Brazos Valley Bombers the next night, and were in a close 1-0 contest midway through the fourth when the game was cancelled due to lightning in the area. A double header was scheduled for the next night, but it was cancelled due to rain. The TomCats will seek their first win of the season tonight against the East Texas Pump Jacks at Driller Park.

Victoria Generals (2-1):
 
The Generals played their season opener Tuesday at home versus the Texas TomCats. The Generals used excellent pitching and stifling defense to defeat the TomCats 4-0. The next night went well also. The Generals jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning before the East Texas Pump Jacks tied the game back up at 2-2 in the third.  After falling behind 4-2, the Generals bounced back with three runs in the seventh and two runs in the eighth to go ahead 7-4.  That score would be the final as the game was called after eight innings due to lightning. But, their luck ran out last night with a tough 11-5 lose to the Pump Jacks. The Generals will try to return to their winning ways Saturday against the TomCats.
