Graham College Baseball, LLC, better known as the Graham Roughnecks, are on the move. The Roughnecks have tentatively identified Wichita Falls, Texas as their new home. Pending Wichita Falls ISD board approval, the Roughnecks would play their home games at Hoskins field beginning with the 2007 season. A long term commitment to the Wichita Falls area is planned. The team would be known as the Wichita Falls Roughnecks. Graham College Baseball President, Mr. Frank Beaman stated that “A move to a city like Wichita Falls would allow the team access to a better financial base and a larger market from which to gain support and being in a TV market similar to Wichita Falls will not only help the team but the league as well”. The Roughnecks played 3 years in Graham with very successful seasons. In the 2006 season, the Roughnecks finished the season in a race for the playoffs after a 1-8 start. They finished in 2nd place in the Rogers Hornsby division and secured the playoff position with a win over the Denton Outlaws in the Roughnecks last game of the regular season. The team had a very successful season off the field, participating in various community projects such as Habitat for Humanity, reading to kids at the local library and participating in several church services during the summer. Basically everything about the Roughnecks will stay the same including the affiliation with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the return of head coach Johnny Cardenas. Beaman stated that he will have several partners from the Wichita Falls area and that a new GM will be named at a later date.
