The Virginias Send 3 Players to The Woodlands

Gray, Vera, Roden added to Strykers 2016 Roster

(The Woodlands, TX – 3 May, 2015) The Woodlands Strykers are proud to announce the addition of 2 Mountaineers from West Virginia, Kyle Gray and Ivan Vera, along with Liam Roden from the Virginia Military Institute. All 3 aim to catapult The Woodlands Strykers into the postseason for the first time in franchise history this summer.

Kyle Gray, freshman SS/2B, played in the state of Texas for Blanco High School before traveling northwest to play in the Big 12 for the Mountaineers. Before departing for West Virginia, Gray helped the Panthers earn a 16-8 regular season record while also holding a .477 batting average, 8 HRs, 23 RBIs and an astounding .985 slugging percentage. As a member of the Mountaineers in 2016, Gray has appeared in 32 games this season, starting 28. During the 2016 campaign, Gray has contributed 14 runs, 28 hits, 8 RBIs to compliment a .286 batting average. Gray is sure to be an explosive attribute for the Strykers roster this summer.

Ivan Vera, freshman catcher from Round Rock, Texas, has appeared in 21 games for the Mountaineers this season, starting 15. Vera has shown to have a potent bat this season, maintaining a .404 batting average along with 21 hits, 3 runs and 4 RBIs. Vera also possesses a .971 fielding percentage for the 2016 season. Look for Vera to become a key component for the Strykers in 2016.

Liam Roden, freshman pitcher from the Virginia Military Institute, aims to bolster the Strykers pitching rotation this season. Roden, born and raised in Bixby, OK, was a three-year letter at Bixby HS. In 2014 Roden was named as the Baseball Factory Under Armour Southeast Championship Standout Performer, Area Code semi-finalist, and Perfect Game South Qualifier All-Tournament Team. Roden generated similar success in 2015, being named the Perfect Game West Region HM and 50th Annual Choctaw Invitational Most Valuable Pitcher along with being placed on the Central Texas Prospects National Team. This summer, Roden will have plenty of opportunities to master his craft and build upon what has already been a successful baseball career.
