Victoria, TX – July 17, 2018 – In a close fought battle between the Twins and the league’s number one team, the scoreboard favored the home team. Victoria won 9-7 over the Texarkana Twins. This brings the Twins to a 15-26 record on the season. The Twins jumped out early with Cam Hill and Coltyn Kessler hitting a pair of solo home runs. The Generals responded by putting 3 runs on the board, bringing the score to 3-2 after the 1st inning. Victoria added 2 more runs in the 2nd inning bringing the score to 5-2. In the 3rd inning both teams fell silent, but in the 4th Caleb Lassaigne’s sacrifice fly paired with a fielder’s choice allowed Coltyn Kessler and Matt McDonald to score. After four complete innings, the Generals were in the lead by 1 at 5-4. Cam Hill hit a single paired with a double to tie the game in the 5th inning. The Generals responded by increasing their lead by 2 making the score 7-5. Jaylon Keys hits double in the 7th bringing Peyton Faulkner across the plate in attempt to close the gap late in the game. In the 9th Key scores from a pass ball tying the game at 7 a piece. With a runner on base the Generals hit a walk off home run in the bottom of the 9th giving us a final score of 9-7. The Twins have a four-day break before facing the Generals once again in Victoria for a short two-game series. They will then return home to face their rival the Brazos Valley Bombers the 24th-25th.
