Texas & Louisiana, USA (June 7, 2021) — In the race to become the most dominant Texas Collegiate League pitcher of the summer, Amarillo Sod Squad starter John Brewer and Kolby Lunsford of the San Antonio Flying Chanclas are leading the pack. The pair have officially been named the first TCL South Co-Pitchers of the Week, paving the way for what is sure to be a season of pitching dominance.
Brewer currently leads the TCL with a perfect 0.00 ERA, allowing only four hits across eight innings pitched. In this time, the Clanton, Texas native struck out 10 batters, with six of the strikeouts coming in a 4-0 victory over the Baton Rouge Rougarou. Of the eight TCL pitchers to not allow any runs so far, Brewer has appeared in the most innings, further strengthening his 0.90 WHP resume and solidifying himself as a Co-Pitcher of the Week.
In an equally impressive showing of pitching prowess, Lunsford is undefeated on the mound, appearing in 13 innings. In just two games, the Texas A&M University – Kingsville junior has already struck out a league-leading 16 batters while only walking one. Of the 53 opponents Lunsford faced at the plate, less than 25 percent have managed to even hit a single. With the Flying Chanclas looking to preserve their undefeated season record, Lunsford is sure to be featured heavily thanks to his perfect resume so far.
